Yes of course. Note however that you will only be able to work with this NIE number in the event that you are a EU citizen. Non EU citizens will require the corresponding work and residence permit.

I am going to Ibiza on 11 June 2013 to work, i have downloaded and printed out the NIE form here form this site, is this ok to fill out and when i reach Ibiza, take it to the police station?

It is really hard to get NIE number and I hope government will do something to fix this so people’s time won’t be wasted waiting for long hours before it will release.

From the moment we receive at our office your notarised and legalised power of attorney and passport copies, your NIE Number will be ready in a period of two weeks. If you need it urgently let us know, as we can try obtaining it in one week.
To this you must add the time that you will have previously taken to notarise and legalise the POA and passport copies as well as the postal delivery time to our office. If you have further questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Can you tell me how I go about applying for an NIE number for myself and my family, we currently live in Canada, but are UK citizens, we wish to relocate to Spain next year. We are going to Spain for a research trip in the new year.

I am living in the USA and not in Spain. However, I have a bank account in Spain and I get paid part of my commissions in Euros to my bank there. I need a NIE number for my bank. How long will this process take if I start it today and see a Notary Public here in USA?
